China has built the world's largest and most complete new energy industry chain
Baku, November 17 (Reporter Pang Wuji) Wen Hua, deputy director of the Environmental and Resources Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, recently revealed at the "China Action for Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction" themed side event held during the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) that China has built the world's largest and most complete new energy industry chain.
Wen Hua pointed out that China has built the world's most systematic and complete carbon emission reduction policy system, and the energy transformation has achieved significant results. The total installed capacity of wind power and solar power generation has achieved the international commitment target more than 6 years ahead of schedule; the industrial structure has been optimized and upgraded, and the world's largest and most complete new energy industry chain has been built; the pace of green transformation of buildings and transportation has accelerated, and the proportion of green building area in new urban buildings has exceeded 90%. In 2024, the annual output of new energy vehicles has exceeded 10 million; resource utilization efficiency has been continuously improved, and the output rate of major resources has increased by about 60% in the past decade.
Guo Rui, deputy director of the International Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, emphasized that while China is actively promoting its own green transformation, it has always maintained an open and cooperative attitude, relying on multilateral platforms such as BRICS, APEC, and G20 to jointly promote climate change and economic development with other countries. At the 2023 BRICS Leaders' Summit, China launched the "BRICS Sustainable Industry Exchange and Cooperation Mechanism", which received strong support and positive response from BRICS countries.
Lu Shize, deputy director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, introduced the achievements of China's energy transformation, energy conservation and efficiency improvement, carbon emission market trading, and participation in global climate governance, and expressed that it will carry out extensive international cooperation on climate change with all parties.
